I am no relation, but I did find the following information. You may already have this data, I don't know. Thomas's son Angus T. Newsome applied for a Confederate headstone on July 23, 1933. He is buried at the Echo Methodist Church cemetery in Ozark, Dale County, Alabama.
You can view his headstone at www.findagrave.com. His son Angus T. Newsome born around 1886, died December 17, 1948 in Ozark, Alabama. You might try contacting the Dale County library regarding any newspaper article about his death. Hope this helps.

My 3rd great grandfather Thomas Porter Newsome (T P Newsome or Porter Newson, Ive seen it spelled differnly many times)was born 09/30/1846 in Echo Alabama and died 12/29/1925, it says in Geneva county on ancestry.com. Anyway I was talking to a distant relative online that I have never met and she told me that he was murderd. Ive looked around online but cant find anything. Does anyone know of this story? Trying to find some information on a Jesse Lloyd "Jack" Spears. He was born Dec 10 1882 in Dale, Co. Alabama and died Jul 25 1948 in San Antonio Texas, buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. He is the son of Mary Ann Richardson and James Martin Spears. He is buried with a Corinne Spears born feb 6 1880 in Texas and dying March 9 1957. I'm trying to locate her maiden name. In the 1940 census he is listed with a Josphine Spears. I don't know if this is the same person or not. If anyone has any information, I would be interested. Thank you.

They were married 6/17/1906 in Dale, AL. I don't have any information on Lula but I do tie into the Richardson line here.

I'm trying to find more information on a Sylvester Richardson who was born in Dale Co. between 1869 and 1872. He would be the son of James A. Dolphus Richardson and Sara Ann Johnston, although she died some point after his birth and on census records he is often listed with Mary Brown. I found one brief name of a Sylvester Richardson in the Philippines as a private in 1900. I also have a Sylvester Richardson (1864-1929)and Tamacia Hamilton Richardson (1872-1948)who lived and died in Clay Co. I just don't have any solid proof whether these two Sylvesters' are the same person. Please help if you can.

The book "Heritage of Dale County, Alabama" has an article on John Walding, Alabama and Texas. Page 426-27. This article was submitted by Michael Wise of Houston, TX who I assume descends from some of the Waldings that moved to SE Texas in the 1880 timeframe.
I have a few Walding cousins that descend from Marion Jackson Walding Sr. and Fannie Johnson Walding. Marion and Fannie are buried in Ozark, Dale County, Alabama.
Can you be more specific on your connection?

I, too, am interested in this connection because family lore has it that we are related to Heck Thomas, bane of the Dalton boys and the cited reason they disastrously tried to rob the two banks in Coffeyville, KS, the same day (stated by Emmett Dalton...)

Nelson Donnell and Elmina Lee

I am seeking information on Nelson Donnell born in 1831, and Elmina Lee born in 1842. Nelson and Elmina are my maternal great, great grand parents. I found them in Bellwood, Alabama in the 1880 census. They were slaves in Dale county before it was divided. Their first child was born in Bellwood in 1864. Before 1880, I can not find anything on them, however, all 9 of their children was born by 1880, with the last one, Joseph, being born in 1879.

I am looking for a possible obit in the Southern Star about a resident of Pinckard, Mary A. Lewis died 1925, wife of George W. Lewis. Mary A (McLean) Lewis is my GGGrandmother.George W. Lewis is buried in Bethel Baptist, Newton. A descendant posted several years ago that Mary was buried their also, but I'm not close by to check nor is it listed on findagrave.com for Bethel Baptist.
