Russell J. and Martha Canady Flanagan's daughter, Adonia Adeline Flanagan (b. 1869) was my great- grandmother. She married Robert Solomon Perry West and they had several children. One of them, Clifton Seaborn West, was my grandfather. My mother remembers Adonia as redhaired, and unfriendly. She did not like children. I have a photo of her and RSP West in one of my bedrooms.
Nancy Larson

Hi,

I believe I may have a picture of this grave or it may be of his wife. Me and my husband ran across an old cemetery today that is close to the Coosa River in Wetumpka. There are a few graves there and many are hard to read. It looks like there have been recent efforts to restore the site. I will be happy to go back and look again and see if I can find who you are looking for. I am going to try to attach the picture. It is hard to read all of it. Please feel free to email me at jennimarie8@earthlink.net.

Looking for information on Tallassee Schools in 1880. My third great-grandfather J.W.R. Bullard is shown on the 1880 census as a school teacher. I have found the names of three historical schools: Friendship, Flatrock, and Union (not Union Academy). Does anyone have information on these schools, particularly a school roster or picture?

Kindest regards,
Pam Bullard Persons

Yes, the location of the Titus Post Office and Titus Baptist Church has always been the center of Titus and what my grandparents always referred to as "Downtown Titus". There used to be a school there, as well.

The families that I've researched in Five Points had close families ties to families in Titus or Knights Mill so it would make geographical sense that's its near Weoka; on the other hand, there were a few ties to families who lived in outlying Wetumpka areas. Will keep prying. Thanks.

I would love have access to your information. I think maybe this man is my great-great-grandfather. At least, he's the only contender left after I eliminated all the other possibilities. The names you listed all line up with information I have.

According to the 1900 census, he was born in 1823. Did his father maybe have the same name? Although in 1900, the census has "my" M Wade with his second wife, Nancy. He's living with Frank Wade and wife Celema/Clementine. I'll be glad to share what I have.

It was my understanding that he was cleaning a gun when it went off. After his death Ann moved back into her parents' home and I believe later joined the military. I believe the child was a male. That was so long ago. I remember double dating with them. We did that a couple of times. Went to the sale barn in Covington. Also went to the drive in theater. I do not know what happened to Ann. Her mother passed some time ago. Ann's mother was my 7th grade teacher at Venetian Hills Elementary School. I use to babysit the youngest daughter, Val, for them. Dr. and Mrs. Marshbourne loved to play golf and were members of a country club on the southside of Atlanta. Dr. Marshbourne was a dentist.
Alice Brock
History
Elmore County was created by the Alabama legislature on 1866 Feb. 15, from parts of Autauga, Coosa, Montgomery, and Tallapoosa Counties. It was named for General John Archer Elmore, a veteran of the American Revolution and early settler of Alabama. Elmore County lies in the east-central part of the state. It is drained by the Coosa and the Tallapoosa Rivers, which merge to form the Alabama River a few miles south of Wetumpka. It currently encompasses 622 square miles. The French established Fort Toulouse at the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa in 1717, upon which site Gen. Andrew Jackson erected Fort Jackson in 1814, following the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. Wetumpka is the county seat. Other towns and communities include Eclectic, Tallassee, and Millbrook.
I am told that Knights mill was located at Tom Stone Store

Well Linday, we are cousins. I descend from Joseph Daniel Mathis's brother, Isaac Washington "Lessie" Mathis. I did a lot of research on the Mathis family 10 to 12 years ago, but haven't done much lately. I had a real hard time coming up with many photographs. Do you have any of Jospeph Daniel or "Aunt Zine?" Or any other relatives for that matter. Were Vertice and Marshall Stough your grandparents or great-grandparents?

According to the Historical Atlas of Alabama (purchased from the University of Alabama some years back), Smith is one of the cemeteries of "unknown location". It's not plotted in their book, but its location is given as T18N, R17E, Sec 26. Maybe this will help you narrow it down.

Hello, I have old family information showing that Margaret Mahala Barnett and her husband James E. Jenkins were buried in Smith Cemetery north of Deatsville.

I haven't been able to find an online survey of the cemetery, or for that matter a location of the cemetery! I live in Chilton Co so driving there wouldn't be a problem if I just knew where it is.

Can anyone supply information on this cemetery and hopefully these burials in particular? I am not on the mailing list this forwards to so if you reply from there please email me kat@hallofmaat.com

Thank you

Mollie Wall was my 2ggrandmother. She was married to William C. Wall and they had one child, James Alver Wall. All I know is she was born on Nov 9, 1871 and died Mar 23, 1938. She is buried in Eclectic, Al. Her tombstone reads "Mollie Moore Wall".

In 1910, she is listed with her husband and child. In 1920, husband William is living with their son and his wife. William is listed as a widower.

I have an aunt who was born in 1935 who remembers seeing her once or twice. so she wasn't dead....My aunt thinks they divorced. In fact, she remembered one of her aunts saying (later in life) that Mollie had more husbands than Liz Taylor. To be quite honest, many thought she was a little, well, loose.

I have her buried in a local cemetery in 1938. And her son lists her name as Mollie Moore on his death certificate.

Finally, my aunt thought she remembered someone saying that Mollie's mama was a Hart and that they were from around Loachapoka (Lee Co., AL).

PLEASE help me someone! I know she belongs to me. I just want to find out who she belonged to!

Thanks, missy in AL
