I have a question re’ the 1866 state census for Greene Co. On ancestry it appears on p.177 of 184 pages when searching
the 1866 census for Greene Co. This is the colored person census, schedule 2 and there’s a 42 in the top right hand corner. It’s the only
page of the colored person census that is a half page. Direct link for ancestry is here:http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=1576&pa...
On the next to the bottom entry, “Sorsby” and it looks like N T Sorsby, listing 36 males and 39 females for a total of 75.
Do you think this is the white NT Sorsby documenting that he has 75 African Americans working for him or do you think
this NT Sorsby is an African American head of household of 75 people which seems unlikely? I thought the 1866 colored
person census gave African American names which is what I’m looking for. Any input appreciated.
