YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at noon at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Robert Brock, 83, formerly of Warren, Ohio who departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Campus Health Care.
Mr. Brock, lovingly known as “Alabama,” was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Sawyerville, Alabama (Hale County), a son of John I. and Hattie Hudson Brock.
He had been employed with LTV – Youngstown Sheet & Tube for 24 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he formerly served on the usher ministry and custodial staff. He loved fishing and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.
His wife, the former Rosie Long, whom he married on March 2, 1952, passed away on Sept. 29, 2007.
He is survived by his brother, James Brock of Youngstown; stepchildren, Frank (Rosebud) Mason, who was also his care giver, and James P. (Phyllis) Mason, both of Youngstown; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he reared, Traice (Tony) Bryant of Coweta, Okla., Elizabeth Calhoun of Leesburg, Va., David Mason Sr. of Akron, LaShaunda Mason of Hubbard, Ohio and Andre Mason Sr. of Youngstown; and a host of loving family and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma and Dora Brock; two brothers, Phillip and Peter Brock; and two stepchildren, Willia Green and James Mason Jr.
Friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
