I forgot to add that I *MAY* have found Mary Jane McDonald on the Guion Miller roll under one of her married names: M.J. Spears (Applicant #13026). See attachment. It says "Gdn" next to her name, which I would GUESS means guardian?? If she was applying on behalf of her sons, to get them college scholarships, as my Grandmother reports, then I suppose that makes sense. But it seems to me that it would be more likely to list her as a guardian if she were applying because she was the adoptive or foster parent of a Native American child. (In which case, there would not be a genetic link that would assist our family.) Otherwise, why wouldn't she apply on behalf of her self, as opposed to applying as the guardian of the person with Native American blood? As I said, though, I'm not even certain this is her. I know she had the last name Spears at one time and she lived in Oklahoma, so it's possible, but there's not enough evidence there for me to feel comfortable claiming this for certain.
