Looking for information on Barnes" in Larmar, Ala. (slave owners in the 1860"s. Malinda Graves sold to a Barnes family. Had a son by the name of George Washington Barnes. George Washington Barnes and wife, Hannah had 10 children. My grandfather, Elijah andrew Barnes, one of the children, is not listed on any census records. However, all others are listed. He lived his adult life in Mississippi and Tennessee and died in the 1950's in Tennessee. If anyone has any information on his early life in ala, I would appreciate it. There were "relatives" who attended his funeral from ala and he visited relatives there in 1954. I believe Lamar county was known by another name early on. No more information is known.
