YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Geraldine “Granny” Dreher, 77, embarked upon her homegoing journey on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at her home with a host of family by her side.
Geraldine was born on March 18, 1935, in Opelika, Alabama, a daughter of Louvenia Clayton and the late Benjamin Clayton Sr.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved life and had a gift of hospitality. She enjoyed fishing and cooking. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
She is survived by her loving mother, Louvenia Clayton; sisters, Maggie Talley and Cynthia Talley; brothers, Norman (Maryann) Clayton, Julius Clayton, and Allen (Rhonda) Tapscott; aunts, Julia Mae Stroizer and Emma (Arlette) Gatewood; her children, Eva Dreher, Louvenia (Ronald) Osborne, Jesse Dreher Jr., Keith Dreher, Alice Dreher, Harriet Carlock, and Lisa Logan (Herdis), with whom she made her home; devoted son-in-law, Frank Price Sr.; 11 grandchildren, Andrae (Markette) Price, Derrick Price of Columbus, Ohio, Frank Price Jr., stationed in Fort Drum N.Y. in the U.S. Army, Lisa (Shaun), Lawarance (Nicole), Dericia (Abdul), Welton (Toya), stationed in Colorado in the U.S. Air Force, Latoya (Anthony), Derrick Jr. (Sonya), Tristan, and Jeff; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Dreher Sr.; grandmother, Maggie Lee; father, Benjamin Clayton Sr.; stepfather, Allen Tapscott Sr.; brothers, Nelson, Benjamin Jr. and Bernard Clayton; daughter, Myrtis Dreher; and grandchildren, Lakisha and Maurice Dreher.
Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Howard Rhoden Memorial Home Chapel, 1755 Shehy St. in Youngstown, Ohio. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service.
