YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at the Mount Zion Baptist Church for Mr. Willie G. Jones Sr., 78, who peacefully entered life Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Hospice House.

Mr. Jones was born April 17, 1934, in Fort Deposit, Alabama, a son of Cleave Sr. and Lucille Wiley Jones.

He was a 1952 graduate of East High School and a graduate of ETI Technical Institute. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, its Trustee, Senior Choir, and No. II Usher Ministries, Male Chorus, and church custodian.
He was a former union representative for United Steelworkers Union of America, the Masonic Order-Harvest Lodge, and precinct committeeman.He also enjoyed watching Western movies, yard work and cars.

He leaves to mourn his passing but rejoice in his peace, five children, Steven (Karla) Poindexter of Phoenix, Glynn (Martrae) Poindexter of Arlington, Texas, Julie A. (Eric) Ratliff and Willie G. ”Will” Jones Jr., both of Youngstown, Ohio and Mark A. (Bunni) Jones of Grapevine, Texas; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rae Simpson, whom he married July 1, 1961, and who passed away June 16, 2008; a daughter, Carla Jones; a brother, Cleave Jones Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Frances Robbins, Katherine Southerland and Shirley Ann Jackson.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
