Retired Lt. Col. Bruce T. Lammers, 63, died Wednesday at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Lammers grew up in Baxter Springs, Kan. and graduated from the United States Military academy at West Point in 1961. In more than 20 years of distinguished service in the United States Army he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, served in Vietnam and at the Pentagon, earned an M.B.A. from Tulane University and commanded a battalion in Nuremberg, Germany. Following his years of service, he joined the private sector working as a consultant with defense contractors supporting the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command in St. Louis, Mo. and Huntsville. Mr. Lammers was an avid golf and tennis player who cherished conversations and time spent with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Lammers, 61; two daughters, Mrs. Pele Childress and Mrs. Brandi Walters; one sister, Mrs. Kathy Zahn, as well as five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Central Institute for the Deaf, 4560 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.
