James Battle Nixon was b: 9-27-1847 in Perry co. AL son of James Nixon and Margaret Emiline Blackburn. James is son of Joseph b:1780 NC d:1824 Ga. Margaret is the dau. of Daniel Blackburn (son of John Blackburn and Nancy Harris) and Elizabeth Brown Battle (dau. of William and Elizabeth Battle). Margaret E. may have married first to Oliver D. Tankersley on 1 May 1845, in Perry County, Alabama. She had a son George, she married James Nixon on Sept 22, 1846, and they had Thomas (shown on 1850 Old Town Beat census as age 8/12, don't know what happened to him) daug. Frances Billinglsey b:10-18-1849, Luraney Elizabeth b: 1-19-1852 d:1854, and Burdyne Redwine b: 05-05-1854 d:1868. James ran a general store when he lived in Perry Co, and the family moved to Van Zandt co Texas, and James Battle settled in Lamar Co. Texas.
