Neither Henry JEFFCOAT nor his wife Malinda (WYATT) appear among the recorded tombstone inscriptions from Elam Primitive Baptist Church at Goshen Hill in Pike Co. The Rev. Elijah WYATT (probably Malinda's father) is said to have been the founder of that church.
I have believed for some time that Elizabeth, the second wife of my gt-gt-gt-grandfather John Nicholas FOLMAR (ca 1785-1840), was Elizabeth WYATT.
While Elizabeth's identity has not been firmly established, she is thought to have been a sister of William C. WYATT (with whom she and her son Daniel FOLMAR were living in 1850 Autauga Co.), and of Fannie (WYATT) and Malinda (WYATT) who married Reuben and Henry JEFFCOAT (near whom widowed Elizabeth FOLMAR was living in 1860 and 1870 in Pike Co., AL. These female WYATT's, along with Elijah M., James M (or N.), and John D. WYATT, may have been children of Elijah and Obedience WYATT who appear in the 1830 and 1840 censuses of Pike Co., AL. Elizabeth may have been first married to William REYNOLDS (1836 Pike Co.) before her marriage to John N. FOLMAR (no record of which has been found).
According to the 1830 Pike Co. census, (Rev.) Elijah WYATT was born 1760-70 (his wife 1780-90). With them in 1830 were three young females: one born 1810-15, and two born 1815-20. Elijah WYATT is listed on the same census page as Samuel JEFFCOAT (b. 1770-80) and Elijah JEFFCOAT (b. 1790-1800).
I theorize that these were siblings:
William C. WYATT b. ca 1796 m. 1815 Marium WRIGHT
John Daniel Wyatt b. 1790-1800 m. Sarah C. ______
James M/N WYATT b. ca 1809 m. Elizabeth
---(beside W. WYAT in 1830 Autauga Co.)
Elijah M. WYATT b.1810-20 m. Rhoda BUCKELEW
---(Elijah M. was beside Jacob Jeffcoat in 1840 Pike)
Elizabeth WYATT b. ca 1815
---m. 1836: Wm. REYNOLDS
---m. ca 1838: John Nicholas FOLMAR
Malinda WYATT b. ca 1817 m. 1834 Henry JEFFCOAT
Frances WYATT b. ca 1818 m. 1836 Reuben JEFFCOAT
Could they not have all been children of the Elijah WYATT (b. 1760-70) in the 1830 Pike Co. census? Might not Elizabeth have gone (after John Nicholas FOLMAR's death) to live in Autauga Co. with her much older brother, Wm. C., (especially if their father was already dead)? And then might she not have moved to Pike Co., where she lived in 1860 and 1870 in close proximity to her sisters Malinda and Fannie JEFFCOAT?
I have no clue what happened to old (Rev.) Elijah WYATT after 1840. No trace of a probate record has been found in Pike Co.--where did he die, if not there?
