2. James YOUNGBLOOD born 09 MAR 1809, Edgefield Co., SC, married Elizabeth LEE, born 04 OCT 1811. James died 25 MAR 1855, Pike County, AL. Named in his father's will, as was James' son, Thomas. The name of James' wife is believed to be Nancy, who died prior to 1834. Two daughters are believed to be Elizabeth and Lucretia who were minors and for whom Wilson KEMP was guardian. 14. James Alexander "Alexander" BEAN born ?? ??? 1752, Scotland, married Christiana MATSON, born ?? ??? 1757, Scotland, died ?? ??? 1837, buried: Edgefield Co., SC. James died BEF 16 MAR 1812, buried: Edgefield Co., SC. Immigrated to U.S. about 1804. Wife Christiana immigrated in 1775. The tradition is that both Alexander and Christiana were born near Aberdeen, Scotland. The maiden name of Christiana is not known. It is claimed by some descendants to have been CASSEY, by others MATSON. The following is taken from the New England Historical Magazine, Vol. 65, p. 245, in a list of emigrants from England in 1773-6.
"Port of Newcastle, 4th to 11th of September 1775.
Alexander BEAN, age 23
Christianna BEAN, age 18, his wife.
From Scotland on Ship `Georgia Packet' to Georgia.
Going to seek better employment." Although the listing said they were going to Georgia, they are said to have landed in Charleston, SC Alexander BEAN settled near the little post office of Meeting Street, adjacent to Little Stevens Creek, Edgefield District, where on January 1784, he acquired more land by purchase of 500 acres, from George BUCKALEW. The will of Alexander BEAN, Sr. was probated March 16, 1812. Christianna died in 1837. Both are buried in Edgefield Co., SC. A lovely old gold banded china tea pot, that Christianna brought with her from Scotland has been passed down from daughter to daughter, and is now in the possession of Mrs. Roy R. MAINES in Tulsa, Okla., a descendant of Marshall J. BEAN and Rhoda BEAN. Alexander, Sr. and Christianna BEAN had eight children.
