COLUMBUS, OHIO – Lillian McBride Chatman departed this life peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 surrounded by family.
Lillian was born in Phenix City, Alabama to Ernest and Elflether McBride.
Lillian was raised in Columbus, Georgia and later Youngstown, Ohio.
She was a graduate of the The Rayen High School.
Lillian was married to Fletcher Chatman Sr. and to this union nine children were born. Lillian was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Fletcher Chatman Jr. of Youngstown, Milinia Chatman of Youngstown, Alverna Griffin of Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia Hunter of Columbus,and Josie Williams (J.C.) of Columbus; 17 grandchildren, Don White of Columbus, Jan Hazy of Los Angeles (Tafere), Felecia Lanier of Atlanta (Jeff), Robert White of Columbus, Milinia Griffin of Austintown, George White of Columbus, John Chatman of Columbus, Kathleen Cousin of Youngstown (Aaron), Nicole Griffin of Overland Park, Kansas, Josie White of Los Angeles, Lillian Jenkins of Columbus, Fletcher Chatman III of Meadville, Pa., Zephaniah Chatman of Meadville (Holly), Adam Chatman of Columbus (Samantha), Jack White of Columbus (Lori), Keta Atwood of Youngstown (Marquis), Casey Williams of Baltimore, and Alfie Walter of Cleveland (Chris); 35 great-grandchildren; and two very special in-laws, Alfred Griffin Sr. and Dorothy Jean Chatman.
Her parents; four children, Dr. Elfreda A. Chatman, Barbara White, Janice Weaver and Herman Chatman II; one grandson, Alfred Griffin Jr.; and a brother, Herman Chatman, preceded her in death.
Private graveside services will be held in Lillian’s honor on Friday, Nov 2, 2012
