You did not list William in 1850..

In 1850, William A. HAMMONS (HAMMONDS)age 21 (=1829) of AL is in Sumter Co near Intercourse. Wife is Eliza J. of TN is age 21. Also in the household are Henrietta age 1 AL. Others are Yancy D. BLEDSOE 20 TN and Martha 18 TN.

I have a HAMMONDS line: Thomas Jefferson HAMMONDS (1815 SC - 1857 AL)and his wife Mary Elizabeth HALE (1819 SC - 1891 TX). This HAMMOND line is in Sumter in 1837 when a batch of them bought land - near Intercourse. However, my Thomas' son William died in 1856 and is not your William.

The 1840 census of Sumter shows nine Hammon* families. They could be narrowed down by households w/boys age ~11 in the families. Its a start.

Also in 1850, near Intercourse, there are seven BLEDSOEs. Two are living w/Eliza Jane & William. If Eliza married in 1847, perhaps her family are the others in the area.
