James Parker, in search of the captain

Surnames: Parker,
I have hit a brick wall and am in need of help. I am looking for the birth place of Capt. James Parker of Livingston, AL [Sumter Co.], b. 1788, d. 1855. His wife was Mary W. Parker [Winston], b. 1804, d. 1848, and he had eleven children. In order as listed in his estate they are:
Socrates "Soc" Parker, b. 1820, d. 1881
Mary Amaranth Parker Brown Killen, b. 1822, d. 1851
Marcus "Mark" Parker, b. 1824, d. 1890
Arborette Parker Campbell, b. Dec.of 1824 ca., d. ??
Conazine "Con" Parker, b. ???, d.1861
Annie Amazon Parker Brown May, b. ???, d. ???
James Volney Parker, b. 1834, d. 1860
David Crockett "Dave" Parker, b. 1836, d. 1868
Adaman W. Parker, b. 1838, d. 1847
Osceola Parker, b. 1841, d. 1842
Philander "Phi" W. Parker, b. 1847, d. ???

I have a copy of Capt. James Parker's obituary which indicates he arrived to Sumter Co., in December of 1831but does not say from where. I have also actively searched military records to verify the title of "captain" to which he is referred in many documents but have been unsuccessful in making a connection. He was the owner of a large plantation outside Livingston on Emelle Road.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
