Surnames: Lackey, Stevenson
I , too was decended from a William Maxwell, but his wife was Nancy Steverson from Hiddennite, North Carolina. My descendant in Alabama was Edley Lackey, lived in Tall. Co. in mid 1800. He had several children, but I don't remember one being named William . The William I am descended from came from Ireland in early 17th. century.He ong with 2 other bro., Thomas and George. All 3 brothers married Stevenson sisters coming to America about same time as the Lackey brothers.
