Talladega County-The city of Mardisville (formally Jumper's Spring) is approx 5 miles south of the city of Talladega on US 231 (approx half way between the town of Winterboro and the City of Talladega). The only remaining reminder of Mardisville is a historical marker-nothing else of the once town exists. My gr-gr-grandfather (Ansel Sawyer) owned a plantation in Mardisville and is recorded as the first person to buy an Indian reservation. He purchased it from Force-Hatchie-Fixico (Chieftain of the Talladega Indians). This data is taken from the Publication "Dead Towns Of Alabama" by Stuart Harris.
