Looking for Johnson family whose children were all born in Alabama then moved on to Carroll County, Northern Division, Mississippi by 1850. Census record for 1850 lists Jackson Johnson (Andrew Jackson Johnson) 18 yrs., Matilda Johnson 16 yrs., Selena Johnson 13 yrs. (my gg grandmother), and Emiline Johnson 10 yrs. Head of this family (assuming here that she is their mother) is Susan Johnson 51 yrs., born in Georgia. Other known sibling is David Johnson, he would have been 22 yrs. in 1850.
David Johnson married Nancy Caroline Hopkins and can be found in Itawamba County, Mississippi in 1860. David was State Senator in 1880 in Fulton, Mississippi.
Andrew Jackson Johnson married Martha Jane Morehead/Moorhead and moved on to Llano County, Oxford, TX around 1869. He founded Oxford naming it after his childhood home town.
Matilda Johnson married John W. Bailey and ended up in Limestone County, Kosse, TX by 1880.
Selena Johnson married John Owen Smith and they can be found in Brazos County, TX by 1870, in Hunt County, TX in 1880. By 1900 they are in Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory and in 1910 Pontotoc County, Francis Township, OK. Selena's grandson's Bible indicates that she is part-Indian.
I've been unable to trace Emiline Johnson and there is no further trace of Susan Johnson (whom I assume to be their mother) after the 1850 census.
These children give different state locations as to their father's birth.....sometimes NC, GA, or AL.
Trying to name their father and mother. All help is appreciated.
