Anchorage resident William Patrick Wassili, 79, died May 20, 2010, at Alaska Native Medical Center.
A funeral Mass will be held at 4 p.m. today, with a viewing from 3 to 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 3900 Wisconsin St. A potluck will be held after the service. Burial will be at Copper Valley Cemetery during the first week of August.
William Patrick Wassili was born March 28, 1931, in Bethel and lived in Holy Cross until 1956, when he moved to Anchorage. He attended Copper Valley High School and served in the Army.
William worked with and retired from Honeywell Plumbing & Pipefitting. He was also a member of St. Elizabeth Parish. His joys in life were fishing, hunting, painting and making rosaries. He also enjoyed bingo and playing cards.
His family wrote: "He was a great husband, father and Uppa. He loved family gatherings with his wife, 10 children and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. We'll miss (him) deeply. (He) will always be in our hearts and in our minds."
William was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Wassili; brother, James; sister, Bertha; son, Billy John Wassili; and daughter, Roseanne.
William is survived by his wife, Veronica Wassili; sons, Aloysius, Robert and Paul Wassili, Eliot Edwards and David Klukluk; daughters, Dymphna Johnson and Mariah and Francine Wassili; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maxwell, Jonah and Lyle Johnson Jr., Sabastian and Jeramiah Venne and Jacob Berkey, Isayah and Renee Wassili; and great-granddaughter, Ann Marie.
In lieu of flowers, donations to contribute toward the funeral may be made to William's wife, Veronica, at 1427 Inlet Place, Anchorage 99501.
