Lewis Family from Tennesse moved to Arkansas.

Hi I'm trying to find the Lewis family from Tn, Moved to Arkansas and was living there in 1920's. My Grandfather was born in 1865 in Tn. His name was Jones L. Lewis. He moved to Coalgate, Ok and married my Grand mother in 1900 at Coalgate, Ok. Her name was Susie Walton. Jones was related to Elbridge Lewis bprn 1889 in Ok. Jones had brothers named Clint, Henry, and Van if my mother's memory was right, Jean.

hello my name is amanda and i live on hixon loop right in front of the oak forest rd entrance and i am intrested in the cemetery because there has been a lot of headstones coming up missing and as of right now there are some that want to close the cemetery. the sign has been taken down and the road is been gated. the county judge made the one who put up the gate take it down, but i still am worried about the headstones being stolen. I would love any information you have on the cemetery so i can put up markers on the now unmarked graves. any information you have will be appreciated i want the cemetery to remain open and enjoyed by all thanks.

I am at a brickwall locating my grandfather's parents. Base on my grandfather's autobiography, he was born in McKamie, Arkansas. On his SS# information, his mother was Peggy Powell and Henry Clay Patton. My grandfather was born on Feb 10, 1886 in the Lafayette County. I need information from the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 of my grandfather's whereabouts and his mother and father. Also, my grandfather was married to Carrie Louise Langford. I haven't located them together on the 1920 census but did locate my grandmother Carrie remarried in Carollton, Texas under the name of Booth. If you can help me with the research, I would appreicate it.

Charlie was born 09/16/1889 and Died 12/1969 in Arkansas.
Rumor has it that he was left on a door step or hog wallow and that maybe a Jack Brewer found and raised him. Don't know how he got the last name of Everidge. If anyone has any info on Jack Brewer or Charlie Everidge please contact me. Charlie was my great-granddad and I remember him but no one seems to know anything about his life. Thanks

I am looking for my paternal Great-grandfather, Even Phillip O'Brien who was married to my maternal great-grandmother, Edith Rose Moore O'Brien. She divorced this man on March 14, 1879 in the Paris, Arkansas Court. The judge said she could take back her maiden name but instead she took the Moore name back. She insisted that Even's childred, Rite and Mary, be known by the name Moore. She had other Moore children from first husband. We have heard nothing from him since. Rumored has it that he left for Texas, but not for sure. We have a total block. His parents were from Ireland. He was born in VA. He Could have changed his name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Searching for parents, siblings, etc of John Allen Ballard, born 18 Apr 1886 in Arkansas. He was my grandfather, but he did not like to talk about his parents. His was an unhappy home, and he left home as soon as he was old enough. He spent some time in Colorado working on the railroads. He married and spent most of his life in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, but the Arkansas years are a mystery. The only person he ever talked about from his past was his grandmother, Mary A. Bryant. I think he lived with her for part of his childhood, and she is listed in the 1920 Census in his household - 'grandmother - age 83'
She died the following year.

I have Rogers and Rodgers family that lived in the Cave City area at one time. My line of Rogers married a Hawkins there, but I have a long detailed ancestry file on this Rogers line. There is also a book, "A History of Cave City Arkansas", with some Rogers listed and photos. There is also a book "A Newspaper History of Cave City, Arkansas". Maybe by now you know who your John Rogers parents are and I could be of more help.

My great-great grandparents, Samuel Houston Dobbs and Hattie Madden, were married December 14, 1910 according to his obituary. How do I find a marriage record? I think they were married in Faulkner, Conway, or Desha County.

On the 1900 Census, Greene County, Jones Twp,(same page) listed a few households away from Christian/Mary MOHR - Mary's brother, William, was possibly living in the household of the John WINEINGER family, this family was also from Indiana.

Listed as: William A. HALE age 20, born May or Aug. 1880, Missouri, Father birth state - Tennessee, Mother birth state - Indiana.
(This makes me ponder if there is a possible relationship of the WINEINGER family to the Mother of Mary and William HALE. The handwriting of this census record for William A. HALE's relationship to the WINEINGER family is hard to read.)

Have you checked into this marriage record in Greene County?

I ALREADY HAD THE 1900 CENSUS. THAT WILLIAM HALE COULD BE HER BROTHER,OR NOT. THE RELATIONSHIP STATES BOARDER. THE DATES FOR THE MARRIAGE COULD BY CORRECT, BECAUSE SHE HAD ONE SON, BORN 1895, NAMED - HENRY CLAY DONLEY(DANLEY).
SHE WAS INDIAN BORN 1873-1877, NOT SURE WHAT STATE. SHE DIED

Base on above names, they did live in the Hemspead, Arkansas or Perrytown, Arkansas. His father was Wash Langford don't know his mother's name and probably first child. On the 1910 census, his name is listed as George Langford, but on his death certificate information from Ancestry record, he went under the name of George Odum. George wife was Sophia Odum. Don't know her maiden name. I would appreicate their marriage information and death certificate on both individual if possible. George ODom born March 8, 1895 and died January 1978 and Sophia Odom born July 25, 1892 and died March 1987 both in Arkansas. Peggie Powell - Henry Clay Patton African-American

My grandfather was Henry P.C. Patton base on his autobiography, he was born on Feb. 10, 1896 and died in the town of Stamps, Arkansas 1967. His mother was Peggie Powell and father Henry Clay Patton base on a SS# information given to me. My grandfather mentioned his birthplace as McKamie, Arkansas. Would that be somewhere around Roane, Arkansas? I have been searching for sometime for any relatives who are connected to above persons, but don't know which Powell's or Patton's to search for in the area that could match my lineage. Also, my grandfather Henry P.C. Patton married Dora Robinson in which they had one son named Clay Patton. They were living probably in the Bradley, Arkansas area. I do see clay with his mother and brother on the 1910 census, but can't locate him on 1920 or 1930 census. I need help.

Hello. If you are interested in a researcher, I can suggest one.
There was a big Grable family reunion every year at Burns Park in North Little Rock. I have attended it.
My mother married Seldon Henderson, her high school sweetheart in their later years so I went along to the reunions.
My step-father Sledon looked just like a Grable. His mother had been Josie Grable and she had married very young and had two sons.
Seldon had an olive complexion, was of average height and had a very good mind as he was a engineer having graduated from the University of Nebraska after WWII.
According to the family, they were part Jew. They were and are very socialable people. Seldon was born at a community up on the Faulkner/White County line whose name has escaped me at this time.
Does that help any?
I also know the name of a lady at England, Arkansas whose mother was Seldon's first cousin.

I would check to see if the man had Civil War service
and/or if he or his widow drew a pension off of that.
I am assuming that the man was born in Arkansas, so check out the Arkansas Civil War website ran by Jim Martin.
Go to the Gerdes site when you get there which will be at the top of the page. Once you enter there, you can enter his name to see if he did have service in the Arkansas military. This is strictly a military site and it is not a
genealogy site, so be sure you stick to the topic of his service.
With that birthdate of 1838, it is a safe bet to assume he
was in the Civil War.
If you are interested in a researcher, I can suggest a good one.

I am seeking info. on James A. Knight (1878-1911) and his family. Family history states that our Knight line were Creek Indians. I know that James' mother was Sarah J. (1838-1930). I believe she was born & died in Arkansas. Sarah had 8 children 6 were still living in 1910. James had at least one child who was named Sarah Elizabeth (1903-1953). She married Samuel William Penner in Arkansas (1920). Sarah E. and her father James (widowed) were living in Jackson County Arkansas with Sarah J. in 1910 along with Sarah J.'s younger son Edward Knight and a grandson "Liga" Knight. Sarah E. and "Elijah" show up on 1920 census still living with their grandmother Sarah J. Knight in White County Arkansas. Goad families live on both sides of them and are related also. Check the LDS (Mormon Church) familysearch.org site, and search the Library / Library Catalog microfilm by place.
I see records up through 1951 showing under Indexes - Public Records. Find the roll(s) that apply. You can have them sent in to your closest Family History Center for a small fee.

Volume B also contains ministers' credentials.
Indexes found at the beginning of each volume.

They do have all of the related film at either the Arkansas History Commission and at the Butler Center (Arkansas Studies Inst.) both in Little Rock. The lady mentioned in the other reply would have access to these, and is a responsible researcher. I am out of state, so do not have easy access.

My Geisler family ties in at Margaret Geisler who married F. W. (Frederick Wilhelm) Oberste (m. 10 Nov. 1881).
The Matt in an earlier post on this thread would be their son.
