Hope there is a history buff who can help me. I am looking for stories about a murder that took place in Hickory Ridge in 1922. Killed was Obie and Jim Barnett, on trial were Byron McBurnett, W. L. Banks, L. E. Pollett, W. R. Malone and Emmett Phillips.
The trial was moved to Paragould, and was begun December 7, 1922, several months after the murder. So the murder could have been around July?
Evedentily Jim Barnett was being sought by the dupty sherriff McBurnett, his brother Obie was with him, and the possee fired upon them. It would be interesting to read the stories put in the paper regarding this incident. I appreciate any and all help with this story. Thank you.
