Could you please tell me how to obtain a copy of the Dallas Co cemetery book? Does your book contain only one cemetery or all of the ones in the county? I am researching Ledbetters and allied families of that county. Would you mind checking the index to see if there are any Ledbetters listed before I order it.

Trying to locate records on Ruth Talley (specifically her maiden name) Husband James Thomas Talley, Fordyce, Dallas Arkansas and am assuming she was burried at Oakland Cemetery - she supposedly died after her husband who died sometime before 1940 (not absolute)

Their son was Woodson L. Talley, born 5/1906 Fordyce, Dallas Arkansas, died 6/1954 Fordyce Dallas, Arkansas
Supposedly burried in Oakland Cemetery, Fordyce, Dallas Arkansas.

Ruth is my great grandmother and need her maiden name to complete family tree.

Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

Cemeteries of Dallas County, Arkansas, compiled by Dallas County Extension Homemakers Council - December 31, 1996, shows in Oakland Cemetery, Fordyce, Arkansas:
page 175 - James Thomas Talley 1881-1959;
page 175 - Ruth Talley 1882-1961;
page 176 - Woodson L. Talley - May 1906-June 1954.

Ruth's maiden name is not shown in the cemetery records.

Brenda, the 1910 census might suggest that her maiden name was Woods. They lived in Lonoke, Lafayette CO, AR in 1910 and the transcription of their census record left a little to be desired. But 27 year old Adrian Woods and 24 year old Ruby Woods live with Tom, Ruth, Woodson, and Sam in that census. Adrian is listed as Tom's brother-in-law and Ruby is listed as his sister-in-law. Both Tom and Adrian are listed as "single" thus not married together. This strongly indicates that they were Ruby's brother and sister, hence the maiden name of Woods. I would even conjecture that "Woodson" for the son's name may have been derived from the Mother's maiden name.

My comment regarding the transcription record was out of line. I was focused on a later one THINKING it was the 1910. My comment SHOULD have been directed toward another year, NOT 1910. The 1910 one was just fine. In fact, I should not have commented such a statement at all. I apologize.

Listed in Cemeteries of Dallas County, Arkansas, compiled by Dallas County Extension Homemakers Coucnil, December 31, 1996, on page 175, in the Oakland Cemetery, Fordyce, Arkansas is Samuel C. Talley, May 1908 - 1 September 1938.

Other Talleys listed are:
Thelma E. Talley, 3 Aug 1910 - 30 Jan 1975;
Una Talley, May 1918 - 19 June 1914 (mistyped?);
Vernon Talley, June 1915 - Apr 1916.

There are some Wood listed but no Woods and none with Adrian or Ruby
