Can you state when then arrived in Franklin County and when they left? Do you have any census extracts for this family? Obits? Death Certs? etc?

Okay I reviewed it. I couldn't see any mention of Franklin County however. Could you tell us how your families relate to Franklin County? Thanks.

Will,
Wonder if you're interested in how my Smiths fit into Franklin County, or simply giving me a hard time? Will fill in info once I've culled it. If truly not interested, please discontinue replying to my posts. Thank you.

You posted to a Franklin County specific web page. I am a historian of Franklin County and quite willing to help you. However I would need to know how and where your family is in Franklin in order to find them. There are thousands and thousands of records in Franklin and quite a lot of Smiths.

Have a great day. Hope to hear from you.

Mr. Johnson,

I think you might be a link to information that I need.

My great grandfather, Joseph F. Hooper, b. 1826 (IL) was listed on the 1860, and 1870 census for Franklin County. He had a wife and children. His wife died sometime before 1875, and it appears that at least two young children did also. And, from the children in the 1860 census, the 3 year old daughter, MAA., seems to be gone.

I know that one of his daughters, Sidney Salina, married Charles Fletcher Barnhill, Aug. 1, 1869, and it appears that a Mary Hooper, married Thomas Burkes, 1870, is also his daughter. I have been told that he is the only Hooper family in Franklin County, during those census times.

Can you find death, and marriage information for Franklin County? By 1880, Joseph F. Hooper was in Logan County, married to my great grandmother. From what I understand, they most likely did not move, the county line changed.

In 1850, Joseph was in Scott County, 23, and living alone. 1860, he had a wife and children in Franklin County. He was in the Civil War, H-1 Ark Infantry, Union. 1870, he is in Franklin County, with same wife, and more children. His daughter, Sidney Salina gave birth to Henry Barnhill, 1870, and is believed to have died shortly after.

I am sorry, I know I have rambled. I hope you can help me find some information. I do not have time to "cull" as I work very full time.

Dori Hooper
