Larry if a person died intestate the normal succession would be:
1) To widow a dower share with a minimum amount; to each adult child equally, if any adult child is deceased then their share to their living children if any. If not children from that dead adult child, then their share divided to the rest of the adult children. The minor children appointed a guardian to handle their share with an annual accounting until each child came of age.
2) If no widow and living descendents, then the estate to any living parents.
3) If not living parents, then the estate to the siblings of the person if any, or for any dead sibling with living descendents their share to those descendents.

You should pay close attention to the AMOUNTS given to each person. Equal amounts mean they were viewed in equal terms i.e. siblings or children. Unequal amounts could mean that someone is a grandchild not a child.

I would be interested in more details about this probate.
