I never could find C. C. Whitman (the brother) in Arkansas after the 1880 census, but I may have found him in Louisiana. (It could be a coincidence. I have run across separate families with almost identical information before. Very confusing.)

It appears that C.C. was married to Charlotte Elizabeth (C.E.) Suggs. (Her first husband was Buford Suggs.) Her maiden name was Nunnelle and she was the sister of William A Whitman’s wife Letha.

In the 1920 Louisiana Census there is a Columbus C. Whitman (est. birth year 1856 as opposed to 1858 in the 1880 census assuming this is the same person) listed along with his wife Lizzie. There are 3 children listed. The oldest was born in Arkansas. The writing is illegible, but the age (25) matches the approximate age of C. C’s daughter Mallie. Can’t read the second daughters name. The son’s name is Herbert.

The census shows that Columbus C. Whitman’s parents were both born in Alabama and that he was born in Alabama. That matches the previous information on William A. Whitman’s brother.

In the 1930 Louisiana Census records he’s listed as Christopher C. Whitman and his wife is listed as Bettie. The only child living in the home is Herbert.

Logan County, Arkansas. She is the daugter of John Shaver & Charlotte Temple.

Erve Lucretia Nunnellee, born April 17, 1854 in LA. She married McBride.
John Willis Nunnellee, born May 31, 1856 in Texas; died June 16, 1913. He
married Minnie Hames. He married B Grogan.
Martha Ann Nunnellee, born June 29, 1859 in Arkansas; died September 21, 1919
in Paris, Logan County, Arkansas. She married Thomas Barto Hairston December
21, 1882.
Elizabeth Charlotte Nunnellee, born December 17, 1861 in Arkansas. She married Buford Suggs.
Rufus Alfred Nunnellee, born April 17, 1864 in Texas. He married Georga McVay.
Simeon Dallas Nunnellee, born May 28, 1866 in Texas; died September 9, 1942 in
Rutcliff, Logan County, Arkansas. He married Sula Suggs.
Robert Lee Nunnellee, born November 1, 1868 in Arkansas; died 1948 in LA. He
married Ella Russell.
Alice Laura Nunnellee, born March 4, 1871 in Arkansas; died June 30, 1941 in
Paris, Logan County, Arkansas. She married William Pressley Hames.
Letha Mae Nunnellee, born May 9, 1873 in Arkansas; died Febuary 11, 1917. She married Babe Whitman.
Jeremiah Francis Nunnellee, born May 30, 1876 in Arkansas; died June 10, 1953
in Caulksville, Logan County, Arkansas. She married William Woodward Cannon.
