H. G. Gorman
I have discovered two records of a "H. G. Gorman" in Union County, and am trying to determine if he could be the same person as my gr-gr-grandfather Henry G. Gorman. Henry was born in Alabama in about 1848, and later moved to Phillips County, AR, before disappearing from the records after 1880.
I have a possible census record of his son Paul Gorman being in Union County in 1900, so I have reason to believe that this H. G. Gorman may be my Henry. I can't find any Union County census record for H. G. Gorman himself.
One of the two records is a Union County Civil War pension application dated 1907, for a H.G. Gorman. I have ordered it to see if his full name is spelled out on the document.
The other is a Union County marriage record for an H.G. Gorman marrying an R.A. Griffith in 1887. I am showing the reference as book #A-1, page 042, and am trying to get my hands on the actual document, or to find somebody who can do a lookup for me. I tried to order it from VitalChek, but it requires info that I don't have, such as the full exact date of the marriage, so I can't seem to place the order. I haven't been able to find any ordering info to get the document directly from the Union County Clerk's Office, where I presume it would be kept.
Can anybody point me in the right direction, or give me any information that would be of use to me? Thanks very much.
