Sorry for being so late jumping in on this. At the time in question it definitely as now Fort Hindman, it was still just the "Arkansas Post". Records are going to be a bit tough, but I would probably recommend the work of Morris S. Arnold, particularly:

and
http://www.amazon.com/Rumble-Distant-Drum-Newcomers-1673-180...

Both important narratives on the history of the Post and environs and at the very least you can always mine his bibliography and sources. It looks like many of them are either in New Orleans (at the U. S. Mint, although you can find a few snippets of translated work from the Louisiana Historical Quarterly, searchable online with membership at http://www.louisianahistoricalsociety.org/cgi-bin/reports.pl) or in archives and France or Spain, since the Arkansas Post was part of the Louisiana Territory and therefore under French and then Spanish rule.

I also have family from there and the above resources were fairly useful in working on the Lepine family there. It's also helpful to look at other early New Orleans resources, such as the Archdiocese of New Orleans Sacramental Records, Vols. 1-3, I believe cover that timeframe) and the Baton Rouge Parish records as well. Yeah, those seem pretty far removed, but remember that New Orleans was the capitol at that time and many records, especially from the further reaches, were kept here. Several of the Post commanders are actually buried in St. Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans as well. So hopefully that will help some.

Are there particular names from there you are working on? I may have come across some of them since it doesn't seem that the Arkansas Post ever had a particularly large population there at any given time.
