My Great Uncle Joe came to California around 1913 to work on the railways. I believe he died in Alameda in the late 1940's. He may have descendants living in California and as two of my six children are heading over to California from Australia they would love to track down any relatives. Does anyone know if the Irish settlers in California particularly railway workers have been documented somewhere?
Joe left Ireland after an argument with his father and his sisters never heard from him but always looked for him. His last surviving neice is 93 and remembers hearing after her mother died that Joe had joined an uncle Terry Martin in California to work on the Trans Pacific Railway.
