I live in the Glenview district of Oakland near Park Blvd. I went on a walk a couple of years ago which mentioned the Meese family as having lived in the area so you might want to check the 1930 census. Most of the houses in my neighborhood were built from the 1910's through the 1930s. The Oakland Public Library has a wonderful history room with great librarians. They might be able to help. El Cerrito is in Cotra Costa County and was mostly built in the post WWII era.
