Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., for Stephen Carr, Sr., resident of 119 N. Eighteenth St., who died Tuesday in the Wheeling Hospital. The Rev. Stanley Stiver will officiate and interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Mr. Carr was born in England April 9, 1878, and went to Canada in 1912, coming to the United States two years later. He was a coal miner for more than 50 years and belonged to Local 4285, UMW. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Cawtterall Carr; four sons, Joseph, McGraw's Run; William, Michael, and Stephen, Jr., all of Wheeling; eight daughters, Mrs. Hilda Barnes, Warwood; Mrs. Mary Wyatt, Triadelphia; Mrs. Elizabeth Jacovidis, Wintersville, O.; Mrs. Laura Blake, Power; Mrs. Virginia Metz, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Florence Staton, Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. Eve Hornbeck, Bellaire, and Mrs. Ann Oden, Wheeling; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchild

Sarah Jane Catterall Carr (1882 - 1954)
Mrs. Sarah Cotterall Carr, of 119 North Eighteenth St., Warwood, died today at 8:25 a.m., in Wheeling Hospital after having been confined at the hospital for one week. She had been in failing health for several years.
She was born in England Feb. 17, 1880, and was married there in 1900 to Stephen Carr, Sr., who died November, 1953. They came to this country in 1912 and since 1914 had lived in Wheeling.
Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Hilda Barnes, Warwood; Mrs. Hannah Bell Oden, Wheeling; Mrs. Elizabeth Jacvidius, Wintersville, O.; Mrs. Sarah Hornbeck, Bellaire; Mrs. Mary Wyatt, Triadelphia; Mrs. Virginia Metz, Oakland, Calif,; and Mrs. Florence Staton, Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. Laura Blake, Power, W. Va.; four sons, William, Wheeling; Joseph, McGraw's Run; Michael, of Wheeling, and Stephen Carr Jr., Wheeling; one brother, Michael, and a sister, Hannah, in England; 28 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was a Protestant.
Friends will be received at Altmeyer's 1400 Eoff St., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Stanley Stiver of St. Mark's Lutheran Church will officiate, and interment will be made in Mt. Zion
Cemetery.
