Dixon, Lee County, Illinois

Pg. 1, Column 3. In searching the 1873 Dixon Sun newspaper under the heading Dixon Telegraph on Ancestry.com I came across this article dated Wednesday Oct. 29th: "We learn from private letters that Perry Morgan, son of Harvey Morgan Esq., of this city, died at Monitor, Alpine Co., Cal., on the 4th inst. He was taken with a congested chill on the 1st inst., and although having excellent care, never rallied from the first attack. He was born in Gap Grove in Nov. 1834, and resided in Dixon or vicinity until 1858 when he left Dixon for California. He will be remembered kindly by many friends."

The pre-1948 Dixon Telegraph index on the Lee Co., IL. Genealogical Society's Website shows that Perry Lon Morgan was the 1st white child born in Palmyra Township.
