Vernon Pahl Greilich, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at his residence. He was born Dec. 14, 1922 in Sacramento to Fred & Edith Greilich. He had been a lifetime resident of Amador County.
Mr. Greilich was a member of a pioneer family. His grandfather, George Greilich, settled in Drytown in 1851, after twice driving cattle across the plains and mountains from the Midwest. In 1864 George Greilich purchased what is known as the "home" ranch, and the cattle theron bore the brand "PM", which has continued to be the brand through the years for the Greilich Brothers. Vernon operated the ranch for 69 years.
Vernon was a graduate of Amador High School. He owned the Pastime Club in Plymouth from 1955-1982. He was a member of the Fiddletown Moose Lodge, #1761.
Vernon is survived by his daughters, Susan Edwards of Ione, Donna Sharp of Pine Grove, Terry Villegas of Sloughhouse, and Amy Poling of Vacaville; a son, Rex Greilich of Jackson; grandchildren, Chris Greilich, Sam Edwards, Vern Edwards, Suzie Q Edwards, Debi Redding, Tami Gilcrease, Lori Fitch, Samantha Poling, Michelle Poling and Jamie Lubenko; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Greilich.
Funeral service at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson. Interment at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.
