David, Lee, and others:

As a collector, I recently purchased (at auction) the journal kept by the party that included a George W Stout from Clayton County, Iowa as they traversed the Oregon Trail from Iowa to California. The party included Messrs Simmons, Geo. W. Stout, A. Baker, and Peck. They left Clayton County on March 25, 1850 and I believe the George W Stout you are referring to is in fact the same gentleman in this party.

I am currently transcribing the journal while also researching the gentlemen who embarked on the journey. I understand this would be a welcome addition to any family history and would be happy to provide the transcription once I complete it - I hope to be done in the coming months as it is a fairly long journal and some of the pages are barely legible. In the interim, I am very eager to learn more about the members of this party as I piece the history of this journal together.
