Looking for information on William Walker Marshall. Recent information that I have turned up indicates that he was a younger brother to my great, great-grandfather. He was born about 1837 in Missouri. He married Penelope Halley in December 1862. He may have died in Willows, California around February 1, 1912. It is not known where he is buried. He evidently was a pioneer resident of Colusa and Glenn Counties.

BIRTH OR BAPTISM RECORD LOOKUP-FRANK (LAST NAME)

May 3rd, 2007 Thursday 10:00 p.m.

I am looking at the counties surrounding Butte County in case the children were born outside of Butte County.

Can somebody lookup birth & or baptism records for me please. I am looking for my grandmothers side of the family. The last name they were using on the 1880 Census for Oregon City in Butte County in CA was FRANK. On the 1st 10 or so pages of this census it says City Of Cherokee. My family is Portuguese so there is a possibility they are using the last name spelled FRANCK, FRANCISCO, FRANCISCA, FRANCA, MARTIN OR HENRIQUES. Or the last name spelling starting with FRA. HENRIQUES is the maiden name of the mother Mary. I was told that Portuguese people usually didn't use there birth names when they came to the U.S., that is why I have given a few differant spellings. The mother & fathers names are Martin & Mary both born in Portugal or The Azores.

Here are the childrens names.
Frank, Mary Born CA (Most Likely instead of MA) 1875
Frank, Frank (Yes they named one of there children Frank Frank) Born 1877
Manuel Born 1879 or 1880

There are possibly 4 other children that were born after the 1880 census. Josephine, Alice Rena & May/Mae and Martin. My grandmother Alice Rena Frank (Franck) married my grandfather Gus Foster Rowe approx. 1908.

I have been looking for my grandmothers side of the family for 14 months now with no luck. I am grasping at straws and loosing hope of ever finding them and would appreciate any help.

You can email me at tex61@bellsouth.net

THANK YOU VERY MUCH,
KIM ROWE

I noticed there is a home for sale at 519 Third Street, Orland. My father built and we lived in a small house at 511 Thrid Street. When I used Zillow and other searches, I could find no residence at 511. The listing and Zillow both say the 519 house build the same year (1947) and same size with 2 bd, 1 bath. Can anyone see if there is a residence at 511? If so and you have a digital camera, I'd love a photo. I have a picture from 1987 and the house looked much the same as 1950. I wonder..... Help pleeze.

Thanx, Sassy in S. Cal

But the 1900 census has them enumerated in Sect 2, GLENN Co. CA. Can anyone tell me if these two could be the same place and they never moved? I know that sometimes happens when county borders change. The two children born were: Ethel L. Billingsley b May 1893 and Benjamin Franklin Billingsley b. June 1894. His WWI draft card said he was born in Chico, CA.

This ancestor of mine is supposedly buried in the Kirkwood California Cemetery in Kirkwood, and I've been unable to confirm this. I've seen the Kirkwood Cemetery transcription online, and she's not listed. It's possible her headstone may have been overlooked or obstructed in some way. Is there anyone out there who can look up her obituary and/or find her grave for me? Here's the clipping from Ashland, Oregon:
ASHLAND TIDINGS, ASHLAND, OREGON, THURSDAY, OCT. 12, 1899:
"ALMOST A CENTENARIAN--
Mrs. Eliza Black, the mother of Mrs. A.P. Hammond of this city, died Sept. 17th at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Flowers, at Kirkwood, California. Many persons living in Ashland will regret to hear of her death. The interment was at Kirkwood cemetery."

Please note that the above is from newspaper abstracts which were typed by volunteers in the 1930s. It's possible that they may have made a mistake when retyping the information.

Eliza married a Bacon after Mr. Black. Her maiden name may or may not be Bell. Her daughter's name was Mary Ann Black Flowers, married William Flowers. They traveled to California from Illinois and they lived in Tehama County since the mid-to-late 1860s.

Thanks for your help,

Joan Cain

From local paper, November 13, 1958

"Mrs. Kulikoff Taken by Death

Mrs. Pauline Walsh Kulikoff, 30-year old wife of John Kulikoff, died in the home of her mother, Mrs. Tillie McNett, in Willows, California, yesterday after a lengthy illness.
She was the daughter of the late John Walsh of Austin and Mrs. Tilie McNett of Willows. She is also survived by two brothers, John M. Walsh and James P. Walsh, both of Reno. She was the niece of Miss Mary Walsh of Reno and Pat Walsh of Orland, California.
Mrs. Kulikoff was born in Reno on September 28, 1928, and was reared on the Pat Walsh Ranch at Austin.
Recitation of the rosary will be held Friday evening at 7:30 in the O'Brien-Rogers-Keiper chapel. Requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 8 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery."
======================
CADI: KULIKOFF PAULINE BEATRICE 1928 09 28 PAULSEN WALSH FEMALE NV GLENN 1958 11 12 547383461 30

John and Pauline were married on 23 Jan 1953 in Nevada. The Carson City County recorder's index had the record. It is conceivable for them to marry in Reno, since she was from Reno. Reno is in Washoe County, NV. For lack of other information, I used Nevada.

I have no other information about this family. I do not know which John Kulikoff is referred to in this obituary.

If there is additional information, please let me know.

Nancy

Dairy location Orland

My grandfather P. Nick J. Petersen and his brother owned a dairy in Orland. My father told me he was born on this dairy farm in August 1920. Nick and Johanne sold their farm in Humboldt county in 1919 to join Nick's brother in Glenn county. I found the brother's family, Peter E. Petersen (with wife Sophia and 6 children), in the 1920 census in Greenwood. I have not been able to find Nick, wife Johanne, and daughters Edith and Etly in 1920. The Nick Petersen family lived for a short time (before August 1920) with the George Moon family. I found in 1920 census George F. Moon, wife Anna and their daughters in Wyo precinct. Where is that in relation to Greenwood?
The Petersen dairy was on the road to Hamilton City (now Hwy 32), on the southeast corner of an intersection. Neighbors/friends in the mid century included a Nielsen (sp?)family.
I believe the dairy in the 1980s was owned by the Wackerman's (sp?). Can anyone tell me the No/So street that this dairy was on? What precinct or township would this be in? Were there sections of Orland that either missed the census survey, or pages of the census that were missed when the census was microfilmed?

I am looking for information on or an obituary for Lewis Corron. He was born in Arkansas (I believe in Ben Lemond, Sevier County) about 1902, and was raised in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. Sometime between 1930 and 1946 he moved from Oklahoma to Hamilton City, California. He died in California in 1982. His parents were George W. and Laura Coran (the spelling of Lewis' last name changed from Coran to Corron).

My grandmother, Sammy "Leila" Coran was his oldest sister. His other sisters were Annie Mae, Bertha, Juanita, and Oleta (a sister Nova died in Oklahoma before reaching adulthood). His brother's were George and Dock (a brother Wesley died as a child in Arkansas in 1907). My grandmother, Sammy "Leila" died in Altus, Oklahoma in 1936, when my Dad was a young boy. I am trying to find information on her family.

I am a look up volunteer for Butte County. I am working in Orland a couple of times a week, and this cemetery is down the street from where I work. I stopped in a couple of times, and looked for old headstones, and then looked around for family groups near them. I have listed a few of the surnames I noted. I will probably post more at a later time. I am happy to do cemetery look ups for the surnames listed, or any that may be out there.
I prefer researchers email me directly at:
Gengal4@juno.com
I may be of line for a couple of months Nov-Jan 2003. Keep trying if messages bounce back. I will not come back and check this message for follow-ups.
Donna
