Turners-1860-70's Inyo Co.

Classification: Query
Surnames: Turner
My g-granddad,George Clement Turner, says he was born in Lone Pine between 1861 and 1864. Says he grew up there, that his boyhood friend, “an Indian”, he says, had a pinto horse and taught him to ride. George became a teamster, says he worked in Death Valley then went to Los Angeles briefly before settling in Alameda Co in 1880’s. I’ve scoured records for 20 years and come up empty. I’ll be going to Inyo County in April and any pointers on where I can search for Turners, birth records, register listings, school records, etc would be greatly appreciated.
