George Albert Tschanz, also known as George Albert Chanz, born in Switzerland (1864) died in Kelso Valley, Kern Co.in (1909) He homesteaded, tried to farm, mined gold, had a store, saloon and a Post Office called Chanz,CA in Kern Co. about 1906. Married Beulah Moore b(1876)TX at Claraville in 1901, daughter of William Elias Moore B(1839) TX died in Kern Co.(1900). I am interested in his mining claims in the Amilia Mining District on Piute around Claraville, claimed in 1898. I am interested in most any information. We think he came on a ship loaded with sheep to the Caliente area first. Most likely about 1891.
