Rosamond Pioneer Passes Away
George Watson Kinton, 86, cattleman of Rosamond, Calif., who was born April 20, 1869 in Pennsylvania, died August 15, 1955 in Ventura County from natural causes. Services were held in the Mumaw Chapel at 11 a.m., with interment in Grand View Memmorial Park, Glendale. :
He is survived by a brother, Howard of Pa., and two nephews Loring Carpenter of Kansas and Oscar Kidwell of Pa. George Kinton came to Rosamond in 1900 and worked in the Hamilton Mine. After several years he then took the job as foreman for Harry Butterworth: on his cattle ranch. After several years of cattle raising he then took the position of peace officer for Antelope Valley (Deputy Sheriff). From here he took the job as night clerk at the Lancaster Inn Hotel. From here he retired and made his home in Rosamond. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge of Bedford. Pa.. for many years.
