Thank you so much!! Here is what I have or know.

GLENN UHL CARTER (real name) aka = Jonathan "Jack" Uhl LaMonte, aka = George Uhl Carter and heaven only knows how many other aliases -- was born 28 Jun 1888 in Shenandoah, Page Co, IA and lived in Omaha, NE, Oklahoma City, OK and Southern California. He married 1. Catherine M. Lycke in Omaha, NE on 26 May 1909 and were divorced in 1915. He left Omaha and moved to Oklahoma City where he met and married 2. my Grandmother Catherine Tracey on 26 Sep 1916. He left OKC on the run from the law abt 1920-1921 and moved to the Los Angeles area where most of his family had moved to. My grandmother divorced him in 1924. After he left OKC it gets sketchy.

He married 3. MARY ELIZABETH MURRAY who was born in Mar 1896 in Escondido, CA and I had guessed they married about 1922, so not sure if it was legal or not. Evidently he really loved her, but she died of cancer on 14 May 1935 and she and Glenn are buried together in Rosedale Cemetery, in LA.

Next found in a diary of Glenn's mother, that he married 4. JULIA KATHERINE "KAY" MILLER on 24 Dec 1935 at Riverside, CA. I wrote for a marriage record but they did not have one. So I have no idea where they obtained their marriage license from. I don't know what happen with this marriage - Divorce? If so, I would like copies of the papers for anything you can find. However, for this marriage he may have used GEORGE U. CARTER, as they had a son. Information on his son's death cert: GEORGE UHL CARTER JR., File No. 304, d. Santa Ana, Orange Co, CA, at Y.M.C.A. on Church St. on 5 Apr 1947, at 3:15 p.m. White, male, b. Garden Grove, Calif on 12 Nov 1936 and was 10 yrs, 4 mos, 28 days old, and a student. There was an inquest and autopsy and it was determined he died from suffocation due to drowning, an accident in the Y.M.C.A. Pool. George was the son of George U. Carter Sr., b. Shenandoah, IA and Julia Katherine Miller b. Garden City, KS. Informant was Geo. U. Carter of 2403 N. Main, Santa Ana. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery on 9 Apr 1947, from H. R. Brown Mortuary of Santa Ana, CA. Would the funeral home have any more details about Kay - maybe where she was living at this time? Or maybe she was dead. I just don't know.

Then if he and Kay were divorced or she died I next find that he married 5. about 1939 in Yuma, AZ MARTHA ANN UMHOLTZ KLEBENAU. But Glenn has his son living with him, so what happened to Kay? I found this newspaper clipping with Martha's photo among family papers. Martha outlived Glenn who died on 4 Dec 1951 and left her destitute having hidden all his money under assumed names in various banks in CA and she could never prove it was the same person. July newlyweds now at home to their friends are Mr. and Mrs. George U. Carter, who exchanged vows at quiet ceremonies Saturday in Yuma, Ariz. Mrs. Carter, the former Martha Umholtz, arrived in Burbank by plane Friday morning from Milwaukee, where her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Klebenau make their home.
Mrs. Lois Morse and Edward Colby of this city accompanied the bridal couple to Arizona for the rites, read in the parsonage of a Yuma church. The bride wore a smart white suite with a corsage bouquet of red roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Carter and the former's four-year-old son, George Jr., are residing at 109 1/2 East Sixteenth street. The bridegroom, who has been a resident of the city for many years, is the local representative of the American Vending association, operating under the direction of Disabled American Veterans Service Fund Foundation. His mother, Mrs. Esther Carter, resides in Los Angeles.
The bride recently has been dividing her time between Los Angeles and Milwaukee.

So what happened to Martha after Glenn died?

There are so many unanswered questions. Glenn was the son of ALBERT S. CARTER and ESTHER "Essie" LUCINDA UHL. He was the grandson of JONATHAN UHL and SARAH CATHERINE "KATE" TREMPER. And he was a nephew of ZACH & JOSIE (UHL) MATHUSS. Glenn could have used any and all of these names and he could have even used the TRACEY name from OKC.
