I read your posting and see you probably don't need census information as you already have it, also evidenced on your posted family tree.

Your posting says you already have his obituary.

Here is another family tree that has quite a bit of information and photographs. This person appears to be related to this family:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/17679391/person/1568182526
I would suggest contact to compare notes, if you haven't already.

You probably have the below "facts." But, I put in some "anti-speculation" information.

The World War II Draft Registration Card Image Database (The Old Man's Registration): King Veare Borges, Rt 6, Box 223, Stockton, San Joaquin, CA. Age 60, born January 19, 1892 in Madera, CA. Name and Address of Person Who Will Always Know Your Address: Maude Borges, same address. He was 5'-8", 160 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair, light brown complexion. He registered on Nov 30, 1943 in Stockton.

The 1910 Census for Vacaville, Solano County, enumerated 15 April
King V, age 28, first marriage
Mary, 27, mother of 6/6 living
Donald 2(1907/1908); Retia, 6/12 (about Oct/Nov 1909, based on enumeration date)
The 1920 Census for Napa, Napa County, CA, enumerated 2-3 January
King V Borges, age 34
Maud W, age 34 (The census image does NOT say "2nd Wife." That is speculation and from what you wrote, this "might" be "3rd Wife.").
--So sometime between April 1910 and January 1920, Mary, Donald and Retia were no longer with King. There is NO information as to when, where or how, they became detached.

The 1930 Census for Castoria, San Joaquin Co, CA
King Borga(as written/transcribed), age 46, born in CA to both parents born in Portugal
Maud, 33, born in California to both parents born in Ireland

Per the other tree:
Mary was born 25 Oct 1882, died 24 May 1949, both Vacaville.
A Maude P Borges, born 16 Jan 1886, died 15 Oct 1951 in San Joaquin Co. Her maiden name was DeWitt, mother's maiden was Strichouser.

From the other post:
> Notice that Mary and King's two youngest children Donald and Retia aren't listed. Maybe took them with her when she left, remarried and changed the children's surnames.<
---There is NO proof that Mary left. Another individual has this person in their family tree. Perhaps she has documentation on this subject. King "might" have left, HE might have kicked her out...etc. You can NOT speculate in genealogy research. There is NO indication she took them with her. Perhaps they died. Perhaps they were in Portugal with King's family. The family may have moved to Napa County before they died, etc. Perhaps they were kidnapped by aliens.

>If you want to pursue this, the Solano County Genealogical Society, rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cascgsi/leftside.htm does research. <
They charge $10.00 per hour...

>They do have a pioneer file on King.<
They do have a pioneer listing it says "Borges." It does NOT say this was "King" Borges. This could be a totally different family.

Concerning what was posted about Manuel Borges and his death location, let me explain the "confusion" and again the difference between the two indices:

The California Death Index is based on Death Certificate information directly from the County to the State Department of Vital Records. The Social Security Death Index is NOT genealogy based and is in reality a database originally built by the Social Security Administration to prevent fraud, called the Death Master Index. It is sold as such, with updates, to anyone that wants one, for example Ancestry.Com. The "Last Residence" is NOT necessarily where the person lived. The SSA just calls this the Home of Record. That location could have been where a notification to the SSA that the person had died had been sent. The "Last Benefit" is not necessarily where the person lived. It could be where the Lump Sum Death Payment was sent. In 1981, it could have been to a family member, or anyone that had paid their burial costs.
--I would go by the location identified in the California Death Index, as being Sacramento, California, as far as place of death. But, an obit might not be in the place of death. You could "try" to find his death location/death certificate / obit in Sacrmento County. There are volunteers on the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness in that county. http://www.raogk.org/californ4.htm The other poster and I both are in Washington State.
--The other persons family tree identifies Manuel's son, Carl Vernon Borges, born in Napa County, died in Sacramento. That puts another check to suspect Manuel died in Sacramento County AND his obit "might" be there.
