DOROTHEA M. BALLACHEY
Dorothea "Dodie" M. Ballachey lived in Sleepy Hollow before moving to Oakmont 22 years ago. She died Dec. 14 in Santa Rosa.
She was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Salt Lake City and raised in San Francisco. She married her husband, Bob, at Ft. Scott on January 15, 1944. Mrs. Ballachey was involved with the Bargain Box, the Sunny Hills Orphanage, the Sleepy Hollow Guild of the Marin General Hospital where she was president in 1953, the Sleepy Hollow Legend Club, the Oakmont Visual Aids workshop, the Oakmont Garden Club and the Oakmont Volunteer Helpers.
She was the mother of the late James and the sister of William, Derrick, Mary and Kathleen. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob; children, Patricia Perry of Mountain View, Caroline Womack of San Carlos and John Ballachey of Healdsburg; grandchildren, Kimberly Gordon, Erin Barker and Heather Womack; and great-grandchildren, Austen and Katie Barker.
A memorial service will be held at the Berger Community Center in Oakmont, Santa Rosa at White Oak and Oakmont Drive January 10 at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakmont Visual Aids Workshop at 6418 Meadow Creek Lane, Santa Rosa, 95409 or to VNA Home Hospice at 110 North Dutton, Santa Rosa, 95409.
