JOSEPH J. CODONI
Prominent Business Man, Succumbs
High requiem mass was sung on Wednesday morning at St. Raphael's Church for Joseph J. Codoni, prominent San Rafael business man and member of one of Marin's best known pioneer families, who passed away Sunday at this home in San Rafael after an illness of many months.
"Joe" Codoni, as he was known to his many friends, was the son of the late Quinto Codoni, one of Marin's foremost pioneers. He spent his boyhood days on the family ranch on the Pt. Reyes peninsula. Later he moved to San Rafael where he became affiliated with the automobile business, at one time operating as a partner of San Rafael's former mayor, Frank Riede. Later he took over a service station at the corner of Fourth and Lincoln, which he handled with his son, Fred Codoni.
A popular person, both in this county as well as in Sonoma, the deceased was a member of Petaluma Lodge, No. 901, B.P.O.E.
Mr. Codoni is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eudora Codoni; a son, Fred; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Leary and Miss Edwina Codoni; his stepmother, Mrs. Clara Codoni; three grandchildren, Fred and David Codoni and Robert J. Leary II; and five sisters, Agnes Hatfield, Alice Hall, Elys Stuart, Claire Eggert and Lucille Anderson.
Rosary was recited Tuesday evening and the Wednesday services under the direction of Keaton's Mortuary, were followed by interment in the Codoni plot at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
