This is a long shot, but I am currently searching for information on a child of my great great grandparents, John R. Craig and Kate Sherer Craig who, according to family stories, wandered away and vanished near the Lava Beds sometime between 1880-1900, but the dates are just a guess. It could be 1885-1905. Unfortunately, I do not know the child's name. I'm hoping this story rings a bell with someone and perhaps he/she could point me toward a newspaper article that would explain what happened. I believe the Craig family was headed to Klamath Falls from the Lookout area and they stopped overnight at a well known rest stop near or in the Lava Beds for travelers (I'm not sure where this rest stop is) and the child wandered away and vanished sometime in the night. The child was never found. That's all the info I have. Hopefully someone out there might be able to help me in my search. Thank you!
