Marie Holsclaw

Homemaker, gardener

Longtime Auburn resident Marie Holsclaw died March 28, 2001, after a short illness at the age of 85.

Mrs. Holsclaw was born Aug. 5, 1915, in Aromas, Calif., and was a resident of Auburn for 60 years. She was a homemaker, raising four sons. Mrs. Holsclaw was active in the Auburn First Baptist Church. She was known for her flower gardens, and would take fresh-cut flowers to the patients at the old Placer County Hospital.

Survivors include sons and spouses, Dave and Marlene Holsclaw of San Jose, Jim and Jan Holsclaw of Orlando, Fla., Walter and Janni Holsclaw of Yakima, Wash., and Mick and Liz Holsclaw of Auburn; a sister, Shirley Folsom of Roseville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wes Cable.
