My mother escaped from Weimar in 1948, but she was positive with TB and gave it to me. I was 14 years old, But she was given good treatment on the outside, eventually having one lung removed and lived til in to her 50's, passing with diabetes instead of TB. A lot of people escaped the place, even going over the barbed wire fences, the guards patroled the grounds at night. and a guard was at the enterance at all times, I was given 6 months to live when I arrived there, as I said, I was one of the lucky ones. watching others die was a vision burnt into my mind, even now.. terrible things happened in that place...I had treatment for 5 years and then considered completely free of the active bug..
If anyone else was there, I would love to hear from you..
