I just ran across this posting while researching Russell R. Rogers, who was a very distant cousin of my husband's. Russell was a pilot who seems to have had some interesting adventures. In 1939, for example, he was co-pilot in an expedition to New Guinea on behalf of the Museum of Natural History in New York that ended up executing one of the first flights around the world when the outbreak of World War II kept them from simply returning across the Pacific to California.
There are a number of passenger records for Russell and Avis from the late 30's that are available through either Ancestry or FamilyHistory and that definitely show her birth date as October 26, 1906. However, I have not been able to find them on either the 1930 or the 1940 census, which is puzzling. I'd really like to know whether there were any children.
