John Graef
John W. Graef, 82, of Lockeford, died Nov. 16 at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Hutchinson, Kan.

Mr. Graef lived in Kansas until the age of 10. He moved with his family to the Los Angeles area, where he attended schools. He moved to Spokane, Wash. in 1953, where he met his wife, Veva Harris. They married in 1954 in Couer Dalene, Idaho, and made their home in Spokane. He and his wife later moved to Portland, Ore., and then to Southern California in 1963. In 1982, they moved to Galt, and then to Reno, Nev., Paradise, Lodi, and finally settled in Lockeford in 2002. He was employed as a refrigeration installer for many years. After his retirement, he was self employed as a truck driver for six years. He enjoyed motorcycles, and was a member of the American Motocross Association. He was an avid fisherman and camper and also enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Veva Graef, of Lockeford; son, Eric Graef, of Galt; sister, Helen Tantilinger, or Rogue River, Ore.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sons, John Graef and Jerry Graef; daughters, Cassandra Graef and Veva Preszler; brothers, Claude Graef, and Joe Graef; and sister, Kitty Parks.

There will be no services and inurnment will be private.
