Robert R. Orpinela, 67, of Stockton died Friday in a hospital. Mr. Orpinela was born in Pittsburg. He lived in Stockton for 29 years. Mr. Orpinela taught philosophy and psychology at University of the Pacific for 29 years. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Orpinela served in the Army during the Korean War. Survivors: wife, Johnette Orpinela of Stockton; son, Shawn Orpinela of Portland, Ore.; and sister, Marjorie Rathburn of Sacramento. Agnes Marie Vierra, 69, of Tracy died Saturday at home. Miss Vierra was born in San Jose. She was a longtime resident of Tracy. Miss Vierra retired from Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. She was a chief lab technician. Miss Vierra was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and Charismatic Prayer Group in Concord. John "Pat" Patterson, 82, of Valley Springs died June 15 in a Stockton hospital. Mr. Patterson was born in Wyoming. He lived in Valley Springs for 12 years. Mr. Patterson was a butcher. He retired after 36 years from the Bay Area. Mr. Patterson worked for the past nine years at Boething Tree Farm in Clements and was a licensed contractor. He was a member of Butchers Union, Odd Fellows in Jenny Lind and Lions Club of Burson. Mr. Patterson served in the Army during World War II. Survivors: wife, Irma Gordon Patterson of Rancho Calaveras; children, John Patterson of Oak Grove, Virginia Cook and Michael Patterson, both of San Francisco, Maryanne Deuyour of Olympia, Wash., and Bruce Patterson of Santa Clara; stepdaughter, Gustine Castle of Sunnyvale; 11 grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
