Mrs. Lapham Rites Friday
Final tribute will be paid tomorrow at St. Paul’s Episcopal church, Burlingame, to Mrs. Antoinette D. Lapham, 94, who died yesterday at her home, 812 Irwin drive, Hillsborough. The Rev. Francis Foote will officiate.
A son, Roger Lapham, former mayor of San Francisco is scheduled to arrive late today from the East to attend the services.
Last public appearance of Mrs. Lapham was in 1948 when she was honored at a birthday tea by members of her family and friends. For the past several years Mrs. Lapham was been invalided, necessitating cancellation of nearly all activities.
Large Family
Mrs. Lapham, who is survived by two sons, two daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y, Aug. 8, 1861.
Her father, David Bailey Dearborn, was founder of Flint-Dearborn and Co., a shipping firm, later divided into American-Hawaiian Steamship Co. He died in 1930 at the age of 98.
In November 1881, Mrs. Lapham and Lewis H. Lapham were married in Brooklyn. Her husband was founder of the Texas Co., serving as chairman and maintaining an interest in several other corporations until his death in 1934.
Interest in YWCA
Mrs. Lapham remained in the East until 1948, when she came to California.
During her lifetime her major interest was the YWCA of which she was national treasurer during World War I.
Suring are another son, John H. Lapham, San Antoinio, Tex., and two daughters, Mrs. Sherman Ford, New York City, and Mrs. Ruth Lloyd, also of New York.
Among her grandchildren are Roger Lapham, Jr., president of the San Francisco planning commission, and Lewis A. Lapham, president of the Grace Line of New York.
Friends may call at Crosby-N. Gray chapel, Burlingame, until Friday morning. Contributions to the YWCA are requested in lieu of floral tributes.
Interment will be in New Canaan, Conn.
