Am looking for family members of sisters DOROTHY GERBER LORENTZEN and PEGGY GERBER CALDWELL, both of whom died in Santa Barbara County.

I am in possession of a box of memorabilia belonging to their sister HELEN GERBER PETERSON of Fontana, CA who died in 1997 without heirs. Included in this box was the following obituary for their father:

HULDRICK G. R. GERBER, 510 14th St., died at the Lutheran hospital on Saturday following an illness of about six months. Mr. Gerber was born in Berlin, Germany, on Dec. 3, 1864, and was 91 years old at the time of his death. He came to the United States with his parents in 1868 and settled in South Dakota. In 1887 he was married in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Ernestina Matthiae. They lived in Odessa, Long Prairie and Ortonville where Mr. Gerber worked as a mason and bricklayer. In 1925, they moved to Sugar Bush Twp., and to Bemidji in 1938.

Mr. Gerber is survived by his wife and the following children: Herman of St. Paul; Ed of Aitkin, Minn.; William of Seattle; Mrs. James R. (Elizabeth) Stewart of Bemidji; Mrs. Carl (Helen) Peterson of Fontana, California; Mrs. A. W. (Ella) Schaber of Minneapolis; Mrs. J. R. (Peggy) Caldwell of Burlingame, CA; and Mrs. George (Dorothy) Lorentzen of Japan. Nine grandchidlren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at the Olson Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 20, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Clement Joesting will officiate and interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.

NOTE: This obit is from an unnamed, undated newspaper contained in the effects of his daughter Helen Peterson when she died in 1997 in San Bernardino County, CA. Also included was an obit for a daughter-in-law Anna M. Gerber, who died in Seattle in 1967 which indicated his son William was still living.

I would like to pass this on to a member of this large family. There is no charge for this other than costs of mailing same. Please contact me at Snibbod1@aol.com
