Yes the state library in Sacramento (not the Sac city library, rather the library of the State of California), has hundreds of newspapers on microfilm, from various cities around the state.

Yes my grandparents owed and opriated the candy store since my mother was 10 years old so in 1971 carol and bob Clark bought ownership from Mr. Buckharts, I do not really remember his first name, and then sold the store to a man that moved the location out of the historic wind mil down portola and then he went out of business :( so sad when my grandparents sold it I would of give my life to run that candy store but then again I was 10 years old. Don't get me wrong though I begged my parents to buy it from them and they thought about it except we live in Sacramento,Ca and my mom was a work a holic engineer and was not ready to move back to Santa Cruz to retire:( so sad I think about how awesome it would be to buy back the old wind mil building and open it back up since we still have all the rights to the candy recipes :) that would be my dream come true!

i have come across a benjamin diaz maried to a lucy, could be lucinda living in santa clara county in 1880. and they had more than one child, more like nine. i have also found three benjamin dias born within a year from each other married to three different women . the firt lucinda in 1875 , the 2nd in 1892 and the third in 1905. and on each marriage certificate it says banjamin dias of watsonville, santa cruz county. could all this be the same benjamin?

thanks very much. my grandfather said we had cousins that still spelled our name dias instead of deas like i do. and one cousin he mentioned was clyde dias. and im pretty sure that clyde is the grandson of benjamin. i have looked for years. do you know who benjamins parents or siblings were? im am thinking he might be the brother of a james dias who was born in santa clara county in 1855.

She married Benjamin DIAS in Santa Cruz on 28 Feb 1875. I only know of one child: Annie DIAS b. Aug. 1883. Lucinda was one of at least 12 children born to Jose Ramon and Maria Rafaela. Her oldest brother, Jose Guadalupe de Gracia BUELNA was my late husband's great grandfather.

I didn't know Paradise had a genealogical society!!!! I am pretty far up the hill....near Taylorsville, up the canyon about an hour and a half. We expect snow here tonight or tomorrow. Our lives revolve around the weather this winter..
Am interested in your Gow man, even tho his mother was probably the Gow in the family and gave him her surname. They came into Canada (New Brunswick/Nova Scotia from Scotland about 1770 and came across to Eureka California in 1874 (to build ships, work in logging and lumber mills and to farm) Eureka is so like New Brunswick coastal area where they came from, (made a trip there three years ago)it is erie. Do you have a marriage certificate or Church Parish record that might give you an idea of his parents' names?
What records do you have on him?

Am searching for a cemetery and/or obit for Corliss who died 4 Nov 1980 (born 1918) in Santa Cruz County; he had been married to Marilyn Manwaring who remarried to Mr Scott. Deardorff served in WW2 (Enlistment in Monterey)

It was Pilkington's Seabright Salt Water Baths until Scholl plastered over it, in I believe 1926, making it into the Castle as we knew it. I have a photo of it before it became the Castle, and my family has been across from it since 1885 full-time...

I looked up his death date but didn't find it in Ancestry or FamilySearch which doesn't mean that the date you have isn't correct.

I looked up his grave information in findagrave.com but nothing appeared in Santa Cruz Co.

I don't know if ordering a copy of his death certificate or a copy of his obituary might be the least cost method to find where he was buried. There's always the chance it won't be in/on either document. However, you can order a copy of his obituary from the Santa Cruz Genealogical Society, www.santacruzpl.org/branches/14/ .

They might have a list of burials in Watsonville too. Successful Searching!
